The FDA has launched the Breakthrough Devices Program to assist medical device manufacturers. The program helps expedite new products that “provide for more effective treatment or diagnosis of life-threatening or irreversibly debilitating diseases or conditions.” This replaces the Expedited Access Pathway and Priority Review.
